Gator's End of Season Party!

Bryson's end of the year team party was at the Jaguar baseball stadium with a few of the players. They split the team up and supplemented them with some Jaguar players and had a short game. After the game, they did an autograph line, photo opportunities, trophy presentation, ate pizza and cake and called it a night!

The perks of being a coach's kid. :) The team and their parents had a great time and we are so thankful for the "big baseball boys" continually giving themselves as role models, particularly to our boys who love them.

The two pitchers who pitched have a chance at being drafted in a few weeks so it was an awesome experience for all those kids to say they hit off Zak Adams and Steven Bruce!

Car conversation today...

Bryson: Why are there so many american flags on that fence?

Me: because they put them up to celebrate Memorial day, remember that was Monday? Do you remember what that holiday is about?

Bryson: Yes, we go swimming in the pool!

Me: Um, well yes we DID go swimming and a lot of people DO celebrate by hanging out with friends but we are honoring and remembering the soldiers that fought for our country and the freedoms we have because of them.

Bryson: (a short silent moment), oh, do hammerheads eat octopus?

....and that's how 5 year olds absorb information.

My head is above water again...

Mid April we realized that IF we were going to move, we had to make a decision fast as our landlords needed a notification 30 days prior to the end of our lease. Since that point, 'til a few days ago - our life has been a whirlwind of many things juggled together. AND while all moves have some amount of stress that is inevitable, this move went fairly smooth.

Baseball season was in full force. Marte's team and Bryson's schedule.

Packing, arranging help for moving, cleaning, fixing, money juggling, dealing with landlords, etc.

Hiring baseball coaches, house guests, sprained ankles, more moving, more cleaning.

End of school, more moving.

I'm somewhat feeling settled. We have some sort of closure on the old house, so back to the blogger I come. :)

At some point I will walk around the house and take pictures of the inside for you guys...not right now though.

May 2010 Summary = We moved!

Bryson had his PreK graduation ceremony, which was super cute.

We moved May 1st into a new house with a yard and a garage! It's on a quiet street which means lots of new opportunities for the boys. Bryson has learned how to ride his bike without training wheels since moving in and that is pretty much all he does all day. We also got a slip and slide (since we had room for it!!) and that has been a hit. Jen and her boys came over to visit last week so we set up the slide and let them go at it.


If it's not the slip and slide, it's the water sprinklers! The boys have been outside all day since we've moved in - it's been great!!

April 2010 Summary

Been a bad blogger these days (...you don't have to agree quite so loud Jen). :) I will try to get back in the swing of things and keep this thing going. So here's a quick summary of April....

Summary = baseball & Easter. :)

We (the boys and I) really connected with this team more than any other team Marte has coached. Maybe it's due to him being the head coach, maybe it's due to the weekly team dinners, or maybe it's my boys ages and their enthusiasm for the "baseball boys." Regardless of the reason WHY we were so connected, we just were. I must say, the last game (which I didn't even get to see 'cause it was so late at night due to the rain delay) was a little emotional for me. I laid in my bed watching it on the computer and cheering for the boys, in complete denial the season was really ending before my eyes. I got a small glimpse (very small sliver) of what it's like for senior parents. Marte will continue to coach, there will be another group next year, another season to watch.

The boys will love new players and study/memorize next years media guide too. Seasons change, players will continue to come and go, we will follow them into their college and in some cases, professional career, and the cycle will continue.

Thank you "Jaguar Baseball boys" for making my boys feel so loved, keep being role models 'cause you never know who is watching you.

The boys had an Easter program at school. Bryson was a guard of the Tomb in the PreK play. Brock was shy on stage but he looked cute. :)


We visited Mammaw for Easter and the boys flew kites again this year. The wind didn't cooperate as much this year but it was still a hit.
